Distinguished Graduate Supervisor Award - Fall 2010
Gordon McCalla joined the Department of Computer Science in July 1978 and has supervised or co-supervised over 40 graduate students who have distinguished themselves in many ways. McCalla has helped many graduate students through the uncertainties and challenges of a graduate program and has inspired them to successfully complete their studies. He works closely with each student, displaying a generous approach that can, and does, lead to great opportunities for growth and discovery for both the student and supervisor. Beyond being a supervisor, McCalla is also director of the ARIES Laboratory, a research group with a reputation as a world leader in applying artificial intelligence technologies in education.
