Braj Sinha

Braj M. Sinha, professor and head of the Department of Religion and Culture, received his PhD from McMaster University and earned a DLitt from Patna University. Since moving to U of S from McGill in 1986, he has been a major catalyst for internationalization with a special focus on Asia. He has been a principal architect in the development and delivery of courses in Asian religions, cultures and languages, and promoting institutional collaborations with India and China.

Co-founder of the International Society for Indo-Judaic Studies and co-editor of the Journal of Indo-Judaic Studies, Sinha has been a pioneer in this nascent field. He has held eminent positions in several national and international academic organizations and professional societies and, at the U of S, has been actively involved in promoting research and scholarly activities related to India. His counsel and mentoring have helped students, researchers, and faculty in a number of departments and colleges including Sociology, Geography, Political Studies, Bio-resource, Education, Commerce, Engineering, and Medicine develop research and scholarly collaboration and co-operation with individuals and institutions in India.
